Its not all about the drag strip as far as big shows goes @ T.R.P. this year in 2104. T.R.P. has been working hard on the Dirt side of the shows for 2014, and with the help from Larry Ashlock and his friend last Saturday we are know going to go on the map for having one of the premiere dirt / mud racing venues in the Tulsa area. Larry and crew knocked out the tree's and extending the Dirt track / Mud Bog track shutdown area to right @ a 1/4 mile from start to stop on both tracks. In doing so, it makes for plenty of shutdown now on both sides of the dirt / mud racing. This added addition along with the new railing and safety barriers being put into place, will ensure that the T.R.P. events will not only be safer for the racers, but also for the fans, which should make for some great racing action. With the addition of the added shutdown area and the new guard rails and concrete barriers, this should help the current organizations and shows that are already performing with us this year be better and bigger, and it should also help bring in some new heavy hitters for all the Dirt / Mud events this year which we are pretty excited about. We also want to thank Chad Harper for coming down and smoothing out the flat track during the renovation on Saturday. As you can tell in the pictures, we are not done completely with all the improvements, but a huge portion of them have been done, and we are shooting for full completion "weather permitting" before the first M.A.M.R. event. Our First Mid America Mud Race is Saturday May 3rd with gates opening @ 12 p.m., and we are also having our first ever Midnight Dirt Drags on May 3rd with gates opening @ 8 p.m. for that. So all you Dirt / Mud freaks and geeks, get ready to get your Mud on @ T.R.P. in 2014, and thanks for all the support in the past, and the bright future @ T.R.P.
“TEST AT THE BEST,”..... what exactly does that mean? Mike Janis and team can tell you exactly what that means. Today, Mike Janis Racing (MJR) announced they have partnered with the state of the art drag racing facility Tulsa Raceway Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Getting as many runs down a very well prepped track is extremely important when you are running for an NHRA Pro Modified Championship. In the eyes of Janis, there is no better place to get data for his Jan-Cen Racing Engines/Mike Janis Superchargers Camaro than Tulsa Raceway Park.
"To say that we are excited for our next race in Houston April 25th-27th is a major understatement," said Mike Janis, Owner/Driver at MJR. "We are pumped. We had an incredible outing in Gainesville back in March, and we have been working even harder in preparations for Houston. Testing is very important in this NHRA Pro Mod class with everyone running so tight together. For our team getting to test feels like winning the lotto. Although I have never won the lotto, I would imagine it feels pretty good! It is so hard to find a good track which is prepped well and will be close to a national event track. Tulsa Raceway Park makes it a no brainer for our team. Tulsa Raceway Owners Todd Martin and Keith Haney have got their “Game On” when it comes to the facility. They have all the latest race prep and safety equipment needed to make the racing surface the best it can be. We have been racing in Tulsa since back in 2007, and to consider a track 18 hours from our hometown as “the best track” to test at is pretty cool. We know exactly what we are getting before we get there, no surprises. They not only offer track rental service, they also have some pretty awesome races there from April-November. If you haven't been to Tulsa Raceway Park, you really need to think about bringing your hot rod there and letting her rip,” said Janis.
"Partnering with a team like Mike Janis Racing is a great little marketing tool for us,” said Todd Martin, Co-Owner of Tulsa Raceway Park. “Mike and his team are first class and have been doing this a very long time. For them to see the value in our facility really means a lot to us and we know they will help spread the word. We have all the same pieces of equipment as used by the NHRA and PDRA to make this surface top notch. Our goal is not only to provide safe racing for everyone, but we would really like to be the hub for all of the racers out there as one of the best places around to test. We welcome all the Top Fuel, Nitro Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Mod, and Sportsman cars to come down to Tulsa Raceway Park and see if for yourself. It is national event caliber and you will not be disappointed,” said Martin.
Prior to the NHRA national event in Houston, Tulsa Raceway Park will be holding a test session from Tuesday April 22nd – April 24th . All cars will be welcomed from the Sportsman guys all the way up to the Fuel cars. Do not miss your chance to get some of the best usable data you will be able to obtain! Please contact Tulsa Raceway Park @ 918-437-7223 or Track Manager Jimmy Boyles @ 918-720-2963.

The NHRA announced today it has changed the 12.90 minimum dial-in to 11.90 for the 8-9 year olds in the NHRA Summit Jr Drag Racing League, effective immediately.
"We have been evaluating the NHRA Summit Jr Drag Racing League and found this change was necessary to address the evaluation of the Jr Dragsters", said Josh Peterson, Vice President of Racing Administration. "This is the second change we have made to the Jr Drag Racing League, last year we accepted a cost effective engine into the series, the Briggs and Stratton 206 to address rising costs in the league.

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 19, 2014) – Pop culture observers who think young people’s interest in cars is somehow waning seem to have difficulty explaining a growing interest in motorsports among America’s youth. In fact, to help meet the demand for teenagers wanting to drive fast, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) today announced a new racing program for 13-16-year-olds that combines racing and car safety.
NHRA Youth Racing will give teenage boys and girls the opportunity to race against their peers in full-bodied street vehicles with an adult co-driver as their teammate.
Competitors will go through an orientation/licensing procedure on an eighth-mile dragstrip in their vehicles, which must meet program requirements. Approved vehicles must be registered, insured, street-legal vehicles with mufflers and street tires and limited to 10 seconds and slower.
“This is an inexpensive program but, best of all, it’s a way for families to use drag racing as a learning tool and a conduit for family bonding,” said Josh Peterson, NHRA vice president of racing administration.
All of NHRA’s member tracks are eligible to conduct NHRA Youth Racing activities at their tracks. Those interested in competing should contact a member track by using the Member Track Locator at www.nhra.com. Program rules can be found at www.nhraracer.com.
NHRA Youth Racing is the latest program in NHRA’s youth racing segment that also includes the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League, NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA and the NHRA Summit Racing Series.
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. NHRA presents 24 national events featuring the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. NHRA provides competition opportunities for drivers of all levels in the NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA. NHRA also offers the Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League for youth ages 8 to 17. In addition, NHRA owns and operates five racing facilities: Atlanta Dragway in Georgia; Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville in Florida; National Trail Raceway in Ohio; Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis; and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Southern California.
