Rear Wheel Drive converted Saturn racecar?! We love it!!

Tulsa Raceway Park sees all kinds of great cars on a regular basis. But every now and then, something comes through the lanes that peaks the curiosity!

At the Mid-West Drag Racing Series Throwdown in T-Town, I spotted this red Saturn sporting big tires, Rear Wheel Drive and what sounded like double the cylinders of the original!

Jason Kimbrell is the owner of this awesome creation, he let us know the full story below!
“I was talking to Glenn Dilday and Ricky Dilday at my shop, told them I was going to build a tube chassis car. I didn't have funds for a carbon body, so I told them a Saturn is plastic and should be light weight. Ricky said he would give me the one that he bought new in 1998 if I'd build it. 5 years later this is what I ended up with. All built by myself at my shop. About the only thing that wasn't done there was the paint job, it was done thanks to Dale Breshears and Troy Jeffries. It has a 540 cu.in. chevy in it with a powerglide. 110 inch wheelbase. Had to stretch it approximately 8 inches and build a custom made fiberglass hood. Thanks for the post, I am definitely planning on coming back for the fall throwdown.” - Jason

Jason is the kind of person we enjoy to see at the track! He had a vision, built it, and is now doing huge burnouts and making passes regularly! We look forward to his next visit and hope to grab more pictures or videos for everyone at home.

The best way to see unique cars like Jason’s are to show up to the track and race, or from the stands cheering them on!
