If we didn't race for money but had 50 cars in each class and great competition would you still bracket race?

Entry fees would probably be more affordable so it would cost less to race and you could race multiple classes, would you still have fun, enjoy the sport and continue to race?

I'm not saying we wouldn't have some big money races but the typical weekly point races would be for trophies and not prize money.

That's a tough question to answer. If I did not have anything better to do that weekend yes. It would keep me in practice for those tracks that would be still offering $$$ for payout.

Funny you mention this because way back when we got hand written ET slips that only had 1/4 mile ET and MPH on them that is what most everyone used to do. I money class called Super Pro (Pre Electronics) and then like 4 trophy classes split by ET... I remember the lanes being back past the bathrooms full in every bracket... Those were the days!

yep still got the hand written et slip from 1980,drove my 69 road runner to the track 13.52@103mph,drove it home.i.ve made many trips to race trophy back then,but learned real quick to put tulsa address on tech card if you wanted to go any rounds.oh yeah it happened.

Why wouldn't people race for a trophy? They pay to run Test-n-Tune and then complain they didn't get enough passes in. LOL

I would race for trophies if that is only what was offered. I don't think the entry at Tulsa is anywhere near out of line for the facility we have to race at. Honestly I believe the payout at Tulsa is very reasonable for the entry. It is enough that when you win it's a nice amount but no so much that it makes everyone race in a cutthroat way.

If we only raced for trophies though I would probably be less likely to work as hard at making as many races as I can. I go to get to drive the car and enjoy the competition, but the money is an added incentive.

I would rather have an embroidered / printed winners shirt than a trophy though. Although I do realize that would be more trouble for the track to get made and keep track of. Trophies just end up collecting dust somewhere.
