MW8.5RA OUTLAW 8.5 RULES

FORMAT
This is an 1/8th mile heads-up class run on a .400 pro tree with a pro ladder.
Class is designed for rear wheel drive vehicles with any engine power adder combo.

SAFETY
All NHRA/IHRA and local track safety rules apply for driver and car. Diaper/belly pan required

TIRES
26x8.5 slicks or 235 radial- May have Mickey Thompson(3052) ET Street 235 Radial (3752R) or Hoosier (18115C11) only.

BODY
The car must retain its original appearance, profiles, and dimensions. Aftermarket wings and spoilers are permitted. Complete stock appearing front and rear bumpers are required. A hood must be used. No full body front ends hood must be separate. Forward facing hood scoops/turbo or supercharger inlets are permitted.

SUSPENSION/CHASSIS
Stock style, ladder bar or torque arm suspension cars only. Aftermarket four links are prohibited on all cars. No full tube chassis allowed.

INTERIOR
Must have dash, door panels, and driver seat in stock location required. Carpet may be omitted for safety. Factory floor pan on driver and passenger side required.

ELECTRONICS
Any ignition or efi system on all combos. Boost controller legal. N2O controllers legal. Traction control legal. Data logging allowed. No optical devices. Must have working headlights and taillights. Any charging system legal.

TRANSMISSION – any automatic or manual transmission allowed

FUEL – Any race fuel, ethanol or alcohol. No Nitro

WEIGHTS - No weights limits

ENGINE/POWER ADDER - No engine or power adder limits

KMRO Rules

KMRO 2015 MUD RULES

ALL CLASSES WILL BE DETERMINED BY OFFICIALS. ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL! IF IT'S NOT LISTED HERE – YOU CAN'T DO IT. ​​

◾Absolutely no alcohol/drugs will be allowed before or during competition. Officials have the right to enforce and disqualify driver and vehicle from competition at this event, which no refund will be given.

No hot-rodding will be allowed. Driver and vehicle will be disqualified, no refunds and will forfeit all winnings and entry fees. ​

◾Drivers must have valid license and be at least 14 years old to compete. 14 & 15 year olds will be required to show proof of driver's license and have licensed driver over 18 in vehicle. Will be required to pay rider fee.

◾Truck entry fee for member is $20.00, non-members is $25.00; $20.00 goes to payout. ATV entry fee is members -$10.00 & non-members - $15.00; $10.00 goes to payout. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th cash prizes paid back on 40%, 30%, 20%, & 10% split. Classes 3, 4, X, 9, 5, 6, and 7A you can only place once and it pays 50%, 30%, 20% split. Class 3, 4, X members $30.00 and non-members $35.00

Vehicles are limited to 2 runs per class – 4 times total for the day.

◾Riders must be at least 14 years old and have all safety equipment approved by officials that are equivalent to driver's safety equipment. Riders are not allowed in class 3, 4, X & 5. Rider fee is $5.00 and will go to the pit operator.

◾NO interference from the riders during the run. If the rider interferes with the driver, the run will be disqualified. The driver must be able to drive vehicle without the assistance of the rider.

◾NO REFUNDS AT ALL!!!​

DRIVER SAFETY: ​​

◾All drivers and riders must wear DOT approved helmets in classes 1, 2, 7B, 8A, and 8B. In classes 3-7A and 9, must wear SNELL SA-95/M-95 or better.

◾NO open footwear or shorts will be ALLOWED. Classes 3,4,X,9,5,6 and 7A are required to wear fire suit to FR clothing.

◾Classes 3, 4, X, 9, and 5 (if nitrous) are required to wear complete fire suit (including head sock, shoes and gloves), unless naturally aspirated with gasoline fuel. A full leather shoe/boot will be accepted.

◾All vehicles in classes 3-7A must carry a fully charged 2-1/2lb. A, B, or C fire extinguisher with a dial gauge and approved by ICC, UL, or Coast Guard. This is also recommended for all other vehicles. Must be mounted in plain view and in suitable quick release bracket securely mounted within driver's reach. Behind driver is not accepted.

◾Vehicles without full windshield are required to wear face shield, goggles, or safety glasses. Sunglasses are not accepted.

◾All vehicles are required stock factory seatbelts for driver and rider. A 4/5 – point harness is recommended. In vehicles with cab swaps, 4-point harness is required. 7A & up 4point cage is required.

​FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN ALL CLASSES!!!!!!!!

HITCHING POINT: ​

◾Hitching point must be easily accessible and of substantial construction. No tow hooks, chains, cables, or frame rail holes permitted. Shackles or pulling on the rear axle are not accepted. If using the stock or an add-on bumper; the mounting brackets must be at least ¼" thick, with all bolts in place. A rear axle hitching point is accepted on vehicles with 3 or 4-link suspension, subject to official's approval. Hitching point must have a clevis with a 2-inch loop. A pintle hook (rather than a clevis) will pass as long as the top jaw locks and releases properly.

TIRES:​

◾If not stamped, official will measure horizontal across lock out.

RUNNING ORDER: ​​

◾4, 3, X, 9, 5, 6, 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B. Class 1 will run between classes 6 & 7. Class 2 will run between 7 & 8 on pits that offer an ATV pit. This is also up to discretion of an official. Class 8B, there must be 6 different trucks, not entries, in order to have this class. If there are not enough trucks, officials will get with the drivers in this class. There will be no re-run option in any class.

REGISTER AND STAGE: ​

◾Vehicles will be inspected by officials and must register 1 hour before event time begins. After that time, vehicle will be considered late. Late entries run 1st in class, unless it is an advantage for the competitor to run 1st. Officials have final say on late penalty.

DRIVERS MEETING:​

◾Driver's meeting is mandatory for all drivers. It will be held 30 minutes before run begins

CLASS 1A

1. 110cc OR smaller

CLASS 1 – ATV 2 x 4 ​

1. No dual wheels
2. ATV's must be in 2-wheel drive
3. Must demonstrate to tech official the ability to drive.

CLASS 2 – ATV 4 x 4​

1. 4x4 ATV's
2. Must demonstrate to tech official the ability to drive.

CLASS 3 – SUPER MODIFIED UP TO 44" DOT CUT TIRES ( Buggies & Trucks)

1. NO tractor-tire vehicles
2. 6-point roll cage
3. 4x4 with front and rear differentials
4. May be chain or gear driven
5. Frame can be tube or rectangle
6. 150" wheel base max
7. Any type engine and modification
8. Dual carburetors, injection, turbo and supercharges allowed

CLASS 4 – SUPER MODIFIED UP TO 44" Unlimited Paddle
Tires (buggies & trucks)

1. Same rules as class 3, except can use paddle tires

4. No tractor tires

CLASS X – OPEN

1. If cab swap, must have 6 point roll cage & 4-point harness
2. Any heads allowed

8. Transmission shield required
9. Kill switch – has to be at the back of vehicle if body swap

CLASS 5 – SUPER MOFIFIED UP TO ANY SIZE UNCUT DOT

1. Dual carburetors and injection allowed
2. 24degree big block, 23degree small block heads only, NO spread port
3. If cab swap, must have 6-point roll cage and 4-point harness
4. Minimum of 1 drive shaft loop per drive shaft, if drive shaft is over 24" long requires 2 loops
5. Nitrous allowed – fire suit mandatory.
6. Chain drive allowed
7. Engine must be within 12" from centerline of front axle to harmonic balancer
8. Any type suspension
9. Transmission shield required
10. Kill switch – has to be at the back of the vehicle mandatory

4. If cab swap, must have 6-point roll cage & 4-point

PDRA Pro Boost Rules

2015 PDRA PRO BOOST Class Rules

DESIGNATION:
Pro Boost or PB followed by car number. Numbers must be at least 4" tall and on both side windows, upper left of rear window and upper right of windshield.

Class Sponsor Decals Required on both sides of the vehicle, front fender or hood scoop.
PDRA Logo required on both sides of the vehicle.

Alternates receive ONLY 25 entry points.

FIELD: 8 car qualified field.

FIELD: 16 car qualified field if 16 or more cars enter for the event. If over 16 cars a 16 car field will be run and purse adjusted.

Big Blocks Minimum weight at conclusion of run, including driver 2,550 lbs.
(Supercharger Small Blocks, deduct 100 lbs.)
(Single Turbo Small Blocks, deduct 300 lbs.)
(Single Turbo Big Blocks, deduct 100 lbs.)

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

BODY

BODY: Funny car or one piece bodies not allowed even if equipped with doors. Maximum front end overhang of 45" as measured from centerline of front spindles. An PDRA accepted extension may be used to reach 45" if the front end overhang of the body is less than 45". All bodies must originate from a production vehicle. All new cars must be accepted by the PDRA competition department prior to construction. All vehicles must be professionally finished, painted, lettered, numbered and decaled.

DOORS: Required. Doors must be functional and able to be opened from both the inside and outside of the vehicle. Doors may be fabricated from carbon fiber, fiberglass or metal. A metal deflector between the fenders and the leading edge of the doors is required.

FIREWALL: Magnesium, aluminum or composite not allowed. All firewalls must be made of steel or titanium .024" minimum thickness.

FRAME: Chassis must meet SFI Spec 25.1. Chassis must be recertified yearly by the PDRA and have specialized sticker affixed to roll cage before participation. See General Regulations 4:4, 4:11, 10:6. A panel of .032-inch aluminum, .024-inch steel, or carbon fiber must be installed on the inside portion of the roll cage anywhere the driver's legs can come into contact with the cage. Panels must be installed in the front and lower portion of the drivers-side X brace. Panels must attach to the interior side of the tubing, or no further than the middle of the tubing, with "impact-type" padding attached to the panels. Padding must extend to be flush with X brace. Minimum padding thickness is 1/4 inch. An additional panel(s) of .032-inch aluminum, .024-inch steel or carbon fiber must be installed in the roll cage roof area. The panel(s) must, at minimum, extend from the drivers side roof bar to the centerline of the vehicle. The panel(s) in the Funny Car cage area must be removable for proper chassis certification inspection. Racecars built before 2015 has a 12 month grace period. All racecars must meet requirements listed above by 2016.

FLOORS: Replacing stock floors with .024" steel or .032" aluminum allowed. Driver's side floor pan must be .024" steel and must be welded in place extending from firewall to back of driver's seat. Carbon fiber or aluminum may be utilized in the passengers portion of the flooring in the driver's compartment.

HOOD SCOOP: Allowed. One opening only. Must be finished and painted to follow the bodies paint scheme

TAIL LIGHT: Functional rear tail light is required. Tail light must be permanently mounted and controlled from the driver's compartment.

WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD: Required. May be replaced 1/8" inch think lexan, plexiglass or other shatterproof material. An opening with a 4" diameter minimum is required on side windows adjacent to the driver.

CHASSIS

BATTERY: Maximum of two batteries allowed. All batteries must be securely fastened. An external master electrical shut off clearly labeled "PUSH OFF" is required.

BRAKES: Four wheel brakes with dual master cylinder mounted above frame rails required.

CHASSIS: SFI 25.1 E or 25.2 certification required.

DRIVER LOCATION: Must be in stock location, on left side of vehicle.

GROUND CLEARANCE: Minimum of 3" required from whatever portion of the vehicles body or chassis that breaks staging beam to 12" behind front axle centerline.

STEERING: SFI 42.1 steering wheel disconnect required.

SUSPENSION: Race car type suspension required. Solid suspension prohibited. Shock absorbers required for all four wheels.

TIRES: Automotive type tires designed specifically for racing required. Tires cannot be located outside of body line. Manufacturer, model and size information must be clearly designated.

WHEEL BASE: Minimum 100", Maximum 115". S-10, Ranger, Dakota Maximum 125". Maximum variation is 2" side to side.

WHEELIE BARS: Required. Non-metallic wheels required.

WHEELS: Wheels meeting SFI spec 15.1 mandatory. Maximum width 16". Use of a liner mandatory on all non bead lock wheels.

DRIVELINE AND ENGINE

CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL: Clutch and flywheel meeting SFI 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 certification required. SFI 29.1 flexplate required on all torque converter equipped cars
(SFI 29.2 recommended).

CYLINDER BORE SPACING: Bore Spacing is set at a maximum of 5.300".

DRIVELINE: A full 360 degree driveshaft tube is required over yoke, extended a minimum of 12" required from transmission tail shaft. Minimum thickness of tube housing is .050" chromemoly or titanium. Two piece units accepted with a minimum of 6 3/8" grade 8 bolts. SFI 43.1 driveshaft required.

ENGINE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM: SFI 7.1 lower engine containment system required. If a flexible 7.1 system is utilized, it must be accompanied by a carbon fiber or aluminum belly pan with a minimum 2" vertical lip.

ENGINE SETBACK: Maximum of 10% of total vehicle wheel base as measured from the centerline of the forward front spindle to center of front spark plug hole.

EXHAUST: Automotive type system designed specifically for racing required. Exhaust gasses must be directed out of the body towards the rear of vehicle and away from the driver and fuel system. All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, a minimum ½" (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube or be permanently attached to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners (i.e. exhaust hangers, support brackets, bolts/nuts, etc.) such that they require tools for removal.

HARMONIC BALANCER: SFI 18.1 certification required.

FLYWHEEL SHIELD: SFI 6.3 certification required.

FUEL: Alcohol, gasoline and methanol allowed. The use of nitromethane is strictly prohibited.

INTAKE MANIFOLD: An PDRA accepted burst panel is required on all vehicles.

NITROUS OXIDE: Prohibited.

REAR END: Automotive type, Full-floater rear end required. Titanium Wheel studs prohibited.
Mark Williams EV4 or Strange STRL-5500SBB two-piece axle system accepted.

STARTER: On board or remote starters allowed.

SUPERCHARGER: 14-71 Superchargers only. No overdrive restriction. No rear gear restriction.

TURBOCHARGER: Maximum of 94 mm Turbo's twins. Unlimited for singles.

PRO CHARGER: Allowed

TRANSMISSION: Any type allowed.

MISCELLANEOUS

CREDENTIALS: A valid competition license is required. A valid NHRA or IHRA competition license will be accepted and may be transferred when presented with a current physical. When an event is contest at an NHRA Member track only PDRA or NHRA competition licenses will be accepted.

COMPUTER: Allowed.

DATA AND ELECTRONICS ACQUISITION: Allowed.

STARTING LINE ENGINE CONTROL DEVICES: Allowed.

TOW VEHICLES: Allowed. A valid driver's license is required to operate any type of tow vehicle. All passengers must be seated inside of vehicle with all doors closed. Riding in open hatchback, trunk or cargo area not allowed. ATV's are allowed with a maximum of one passenger who must be seated at all times. Golf carts are allowed with a maximum of four passengers who must be seated at all times. Posted pit speeds must be obeyed at all times. If pit speed is not posted, maximum pit speed will be 5 mph.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SFI 16.1 certification required (7 point system recommended).

FIRE SYSTEM: SFI 17.1 system required. System must contain a minimum of 20 lbs of fluid or gas fire suppression agent. One nozzle required inside driver's compartment must be directed at driver's feet. Two or more nozzles must be directed at front of engine and fuel cell. All fire suppression must be released with a single actuation (i.e. single handle, button or lever).

HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT: SFI 38.1 required. An aluminum skid plate located above driver's head is recommended.

HELMET: SN-2005 or newer, SFI 31.2 or 41.2 required. Use of open face helmet prohibited. Eject Helmet Removal System (Part # SDR 890-01-30) or equivalent required.

MASTER ELECTRICAL CUTOFF: Required. Must be clearly labeled "PUSH OFF".

PARACHUTES: Dual parachutes required. Separate shroud-line mounting points with 1/2" sleeved grade 8 bolts required.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: A driver's suit meeting SFI 3.2A/20, gloves meeting SFI 3.3/20, shoes meeting SFI 3.3/20 and a head sock meeting SFI 3.3 required. A head sock is not required when a helmet manufactured with a skirt meeting SFI 3.3 is used.

RF SHUTDOWN RECEIVER: Properly functioning Electrimotion shutoff device (part numbers SB001 and RF001) recommended.

ROLL BAR PADDING: SFI 45.1 required.

TRANSMISSION: All transmissions must be covered by a one piece SFI 4.1 restraint.

UPHOLSTERY: Driver's seat foamed with energy absorbing material, formed for the driver and covered with flame retardant material is required. Lateral helmet supports required.

WINDOW NET: SFI 27.1 required.

DOORS: Required. Doors must be functional and able to be opened from both the inside and outside of the vehicle. Doors may be fabricated from carbon fiber, fiberglass or metal. A metal deflector between the fenders and the leading edge of the doors is required.

FIREWALL: Magnesium, aluminum or composite not allowed. All firewalls must be made of steel or titanium .024" minimum thickness.

FRAME: Chassis must meet SFI Spec 25.1. Chassis must be recertified yearly by the PDRA and have specialized sticker affixed to roll cage before participation. See General Regulations 4:4, 4:11, 10:6. A panel of .032-inch aluminum, .024-inch steel, or carbon fiber must be installed on the inside portion of the roll cage anywhere the driver's legs can come into contact with the cage. Panels must be installed in the front and lower portion of the drivers-side X brace. Panels must attach to the interior side of the tubing, or no further than the middle of the tubing, with "impact-type" padding attached to the panels. Padding must extend to be flush with X brace. Minimum padding thickness is 1/4 inch. An additional panel(s) of .032-inch aluminum, .024-inch steel or carbon fiber must be installed in the roll cage roof area. The panel(s) must, at minimum, extend from the drivers side roof bar to the centerline of the vehicle. The panel(s) in the Funny Car cage area must be removable for proper chassis certification inspection. Racecars built before 2015 has a 12 month grace period. All racecars must meet requirements listed above by 2016.

FLOORS: Replacing stock floors with .024" steel or .032" aluminum allowed. Driver's side floor pan must be .024" steel and must be welded in place extending from firewall to back of driver's seat. Carbon fiber or aluminum may be utilized in the passengers portion of the flooring in the driver's compartment.

HOOD SCOOP: Allowed. One opening only. Must be finished and painted to follow the bodies paint scheme
TAIL LIGHT: Functional rear tail light is required. Tail light must be permanently mounted and controlled from the driver's compartment.

WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD: Required. May be replaced 1/8" inch think lexan, plexiglass or other shatterproof material. An opening with a 4" diameter minimum is required on side windows adjacent to the driver.

CHASSIS

BATTERY: Maximum of two batteries allowed. All batteries must be securely fastened. An external master electrical shut off clearly labeled "PUSH OFF" is required.

BRAKES: Four wheel brakes with dual master cylinder mounted above frame rails required.

CHASSIS: SFI 25.1 E or 25.2 certification required.

DRIVER LOCATION: Must be in stock location, on left side of vehicle.

GROUND CLEARANCE: Minimum of 3" required from whatever portion of the vehicles body or chassis that breaks staging beam to 12" behind front axle centerline.

STEERING: SFI 42.1 steering wheel disconnect required.

SUSPENSION: Race car type suspension required. Solid suspension prohibited. Shock absorbers required for all four wheels.

TIRES: Automotive type tires designed specifically for racing required. Tires cannot be located outside of bodyline. Manufacturer, model and size information must be clearly designated.

WHEEL BASE: Minimum 100″, Maximum 115". S-10, Ranger, Dakota Maximum 125". Maximum variation is 2" side to side.

WHEELIE BARS: Required. Non-metallic wheels required.

WHEELS: Wheels meeting SFI spec 15.1 mandatory. Maximum width 16". Use of a liner mandatory on all non bead lock wheels.

DRIVELINE AND ENGINE

No cubic inch limit.

CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL: Clutch and flywheel meeting SFI 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 certification required. SFI 29.1 flexplate required on all torque converter equipped cars
(SFI 29.2 recommended).

CYLINDER BORE SPACING: Bore Spacing is set at a maximum of 5.300".

DRIVELINE: A full 360 degree driveshaft tube is required over yoke, extended a minimum of 12" required from transmission tail shaft. Minimum thickness of tube housing is .050" chromemoly or titanium. Two piece units accepted with a minimum of 6 3/8" grade 8 bolts. SFI 43.1 driveshaft required.

ENGINE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM: SFI 7.1 lower engine containment system required. If a flexible 7.1 system is utilized, it must be accompanied by a carbon fiber or aluminum belly pan with a minimum 2" vertical lip.

ENGINE SETBACK: Maximum of 10% of total vehicle wheel base as measured from the centerline of the forward front spindle to center of front spark plug hole.

EXHAUST: Automotive type system designed specifically for racing required. Exhaust gasses must be directed out of the body towards the rear of vehicle and away from the driver and fuel system.
All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, a minimum ½" (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube or be permanently attached to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners (i.e. exhaust hangers, support brackets, bolts/nuts, etc.) such that they require tools for removal.

HARMONIC BALANCER: SFI 18.1 certification required.

FLYWHEEL SHIELD: SFI 6.3 certification required.

FUEL: Alcohol, gasoline and methanol allowed. The use of nitromethane is strictly prohibited.

INTAKE MANIFOLD: An PDRA accepted burst panel is required on all vehicles.

NITROUS OXIDE: Allowed.
REAR END: Automotive type, Full-floater rear end required. Titanium Wheel studs prohibited.

Mark Williams EV4 axle system, or Strange STRL-5500SBB accepted.

STARTER: Required. All entries must be self starting. No push starts allowed.

SUPERCHARGER: The use of any type of supercharger is strictly prohibited.

TURBOCHARGER: The use of any type of turbocharger is strictly prohibited.

TRANSMISSION: Any type allowed.

MISCELLANEOUS

CREDENTIALS: A valid competition license is required. A valid NHRA or IHRA competition license will be accepted and may be transferred when presented with a current physical. When an event is contest at an NHRA Member track only PDRA or NHRA competition licenses will be accepted.

COMPUTER: Allowed.

DATA AND ELECTRONICS ACQUISITION: Allowed.

STARTING LINE ENGINE CONTROL DEVICES: Allowed.

TOW VEHICLES: Allowed. A valid driver's license is required to operate any type of tow vehicle. All passengers must be seated inside of vehicle with all doors closed. Riding in open hatchback, trunk or cargo area not allowed. ATV's are allowed with a maximum of one passenger who must be seated at all times. Golf carts are allowed with a maximum of four passengers who must be seated at all times. Posted pit speeds must be obeyed at all times. If pit speed is not posted, maximum pit speed will be 5 mph.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SFI 16.1 certification required (7 point system recommended).

FIRE SYSTEM: SFI 17.1 system required. System must contain a minimum of 20 lbs of fluid or gas fire suppression agent. One nozzle required inside driver's compartment must be directed at driver's feet. Two or more nozzles must be directed at front of engine and fuel cell. All fire suppression must be released with a single actuation (i.e. single handle, button or lever).

HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT: SFI 38.1 required. An aluminum skid plate located above driver's head is recommended.

HELMET: SN-2005 or newer, SFI 31.2 or 41.2 required. Use of open face helmet prohibited. Eject Helmet Removal System (Part # SDR 890-01-30) or equivalent required.

MASTER ELECTRICAL CUTOFF: Required. Must be clearly labeled "PUSH OFF".

PARACHUTES: Dual parachutes required. Separate shroud-line mounting points with 1/2" sleeved grade 8 bolts required.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: A driver's suit meeting SFI 3.2A/15, gloves meeting SFI 3.3/15, shoes meeting SFI 3.3/15 and a head sock meeting SFI 3.3 required. A head sock is not required when a helmet manufactured with a skirt meeting SFI 3.3 is used.

RF SHUTDOWN RECEIVER: Properly functioning Electrimotion shutoff device (part numbers SB001 and RF001) recommended.

ROLL BAR PADDING: SFI 45.1 required.

TRANSMISSION: All transmissions must be covered by a one piece SFI 4.1 restraint.

UPHOLSTERY: Driver's seat foamed with energy absorbing material, formed for the driver and covered with flame retardant material is required. Lateral helmet supports required.

WINDOW NET: SFI 27.1 required.
